PEC First-Ever Interdepartmental Table Tennis Tournament 2026 Concludes as Part of Golden Jubilee Celebrations

Islamabad: The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) organized its first-ever Interdepartmental Table Tennis Tournament 2026 as part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations, marking 50 years of excellence. Held under the patronage of Chairman PEC, Engr. Waseem Nazir, the matches took place from 20th to 22nd January 2025, with the closing ceremony held at PEC Headquarters on 23rd January. Chairman PEC Engr. Waseem Nazir graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Registrar PEC Engr. Khadim Hussain Bhatti, heads of departments, senior officials, and employees attended the ceremony.
Chairman PEC Engr. Waseem Nazir and Registrar Engr. Khadim Hussain Bhatti distributed shields and cheques among the winners and runners-up, and certificates among the participants of the tournament. In the Men’s event, Engr. Fahad Mustafa, Assistant Director (IT Department), won the tournament, while Engr. Mughira Jamal, Site Engineer (Project Management Unit), secured the runner-up position. In the Women’s event, Engr. Samar Naseem, Assistant Registrar (Global Linkages), emerged as the winner, while Engr. Rida Nasir, Assistant Registrar (Global Linkages), remained the runner-up.
The Chairman also distributed certificates and prizes among match referees Engr. Ali Raza Asif and Engr. Omer, as well as organizing team members Engr. Haris Rasheed, Engr. Sadaf Bangash, and Engr. Hassan Kamil, who demonstrated strong leadership roles in the successful conduct of the tournament.
Chairman PEC Engr. Waseem Nazir stated that the sports tournament, organized as part of PEC’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, was held for the first time in the history of the Council and would be extended to all regional offices of PEC across the country. He further shared that this initiative would also be expanded to Engineering Higher Educational Institutions and young engineers nationwide. He added that PEC will introduce a structured sports framework to ensure regular sporting activities for engineers, aimed at nurturing talent and promoting a healthy and balanced lifestyle. According to PEC, the Chairman expressed his vision to develop engineers’ sports teams capable of representing PEC at national-level competitions, including the National Games, with the long-term goal of participation at international forums such as the Olympics.
